4H Archery Competition Hits a Bullseye

Friday, March 15 and Saturday, March 16, the Young County 4H held an archery competition at the Young County Arena.

Caden Lane shooting out of the Archer City 4H scored a five- 22 out of six hundred. Lane was one of the 225 shooters that showed up over the weekend. The shooters come from more than 30 counties in Texas to compete. Archery is one of the many activities children can take part in. Others include photography, showing animals and cooking to name a few. Young County has received more than $45 thousand in grants during the past six years to go toward rifle, shotgun and archery equipment.

The children will register online with the Texas 4H, then practice with their local 4H coaches to later compete in the vrious events throughout the year with a large Texas shoot in July. One of the bigger competitions will be the Archery Roundup on June 10. The roundup is a qualifying and invitational event for 4H youth who placed in a district level.
