Old Sol has decided to extend his stay and sizzle us with those penetrating rays of his. He’s like a little kid who has just learned to count to 100; he wants to dazzle everyone with his brilliance, over and over, and over and over again! Of course, we would prefer for him to stop in the ‘80s and ‘90s, but-- it IS summer! Surely we can endure two more months; we are resilient!

Non-Judgmental

Non-Judgmental

Matthew 7:1-5 1 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. 3 Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.”

What? June is already 1/3 gone?! I realize our universe is expanding, but I hadn’t expected it to hurl our days by so fast! So many things to do, so many things yet to discover, and here I am -- afoot! My faithful steed suffered a seizure at Avenue L and Oak Street on Memorial Day, and was transported to the krankenhaus. The diagnosis was not music to my ears, rather a death knell.(sigh) Now the search is on for a replacement for that Clydesdale. An Appaloosa might suit my fancy, but definitely not a Shetland Pony. You are right-- I’m referring to vehicles, not horses. I’d like a classy looking one that is broken in, providing a comfortable ride, and not a gas-guzzler. Don’t know if one has been invented yet, but I’m an optimist.

Will B. Ready for SUMMER

Some dread that time of year, but others like myself look forward to each year, SUMMER!! Yes, summer is my favorite season. I like a really hot summer. I am not the biggest fan of sweating my you-know-what off, but I enjoy what only summer can provide: many blissful feelings and memories. Blissful like being outside on a day that is 100 plus and that first moment of walking into a 70-degree, ice-cold house or doing yard work in those melting temperatures and jumping in a pool for a dip or a cold shower followed by a well-deserved ice-cold beer in an ice-cold mug kept in a freezer. How about the Fourth of July? Is there a better holiday? Maybe, but not for me. Barbecue, friends, maybe a beer, and fireworks are recipes for amazing memories. Trips to the lake hit just a little better in summer than at any other time of year. Trips to the DQ—yes, please, are always better in the summer. Cherry Limeades at Sonic—there will be plenty of those to be had.

Wow! What a thrill to watch the total lunar eclipse Sunday night, the 15th. As the moon entered the Earth’s shadow, a faint red color could be detected, and it grew until the entire moon glowed with a dull red hue. Of course, it was 11:00ish before the eclipse was completed, so I drove back into my garage with a satisfying feeling that the moon could then find its way out of the shadow on its own. My pillow was calling my name! Now I will wait until November for the next such spectacle.
