Wondering What’s Going On
There is so many negative things going on this year of 2020 that it is very easy to get overwhelmed. I have always prided myself on not worrying about current events or how things will turn out.
I can easily understand why there is plenty to worry about with Covid-19, riots, protests and the continued back and forth fighting between the conservatives and the liberals.
I, myself, have almost fell victim to worrying. Well, not so much as worry, but getting annoyed and even mad in some cases.
I have a secret on why I don’t worry. Well, it may not be so much a secret because most should know the answer to why we should never worry. The reason is the good news. What is the good news you may ask? The good news is John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”.
I know what some will say “just another bible thumper preaching”. Or that answer is over simplified.
Well, it is a simple answer with overwhelming meaning. Think of the vastness of time. It’s almost impossible to grasp eternity. Billion times a billion times a trillion and so on and that still does not begin to broach eternity.
Now think of the tiny minuscule fraction of time that we are here on Earth in human form and you might just see why worry about events in the news are not so important to worry about. If you believe God sent his only begotten son Jesus Christ as your lord and savior and that he died on the cross for your sins, you will be saved. That is one reason not to worry. Soon, if you have been saved, you will have eternal peace with Jesus. Another is faith in God’s plan. God created all the Universe and everything in it down to the grains of sand. You don’t think he has a plan for us? He does. He works in his own way, on his own timeline. We can’t fathom the reasons. Philippians 4:6-7 “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God”.
It is all over the Bible. Give your worries to God and don’t waste another minute worrying about things on Earth. I have always lived life this way. I pray and give my worries to God and then I let them go. It’s as simple as that. If you truly believe in God’s power, then this simple act should be enough to relieve you of all your worries. I know you probably didn’t want another sermon in the middle of the week but as I look at social media and those around me, I felt in my heart that I needed to share this simple action that will help everyone not to worry so much or not at all. Give it an earnest try this week. I just have a feeling you will be better off for it.
