Many different things inspire people to greatness or even to strive for excellence. However, the main thing that inspires in almost every situation is passion! Passion is simply an overwhelming love for something.

Passion can turn any hobby, job, or interest into the most exciting and fulfilling experience. For some, it is photography, like me. To others, it may be playing sports, writing, reading, singing, cooking, and, well, just about any activity can be inspired by a passion for that something.

The difference between a great athlete and an average athlete is definitely a passion. You can see it in someone’s eyes when they do something they love; when you love what you do, you put everything you have into it! When you are loving what you’re doing, even when it comes to making a living, it just does not seem to be work at all. The saying goes, do what you love for a living, and you will never work a day in your life.

I believe everyone has something they are passionate about, and life would be just plain boring with things we love to do. If you find yourself in a slump, just set some time aside to think about what would make you happy, then do it! If you want to be great at something, find out what you love doing and go for it! Nothing in life comes easy, so don’t be afraid of putting in long hours of training or practice to achieve your goal of greatness. After all, it’s what you love to do, isn’t it?

My love for photography grew from reading my dad’s National Geographic magazines when I was very young, maybe 8 or 9. But even back then, I would dream of traveling to faroff places and taking photos of people and events, I was infatuated with the idea at first, but later it grew into my great passion. I started with instant cameras, progressed to instant cameras, later to full-frame film cameras, and finally to fullframe digital cameras. I was not very good initially, but through the years, I studied those National Geographics, read plenty of books, and just kept snapping photos until one day, I found I was good enough to get paid for what I love.

Photography is my passion and my story of what I love to do. What is it that you love to do? What is your passion? Everyone has something. If you’re unsure, take some time and give it a good thinking over, then get out there and practice, practice, practice, and make your dream come true.
