Will B. Going to the Symphony

Recently I had the opportunity to go see the Fort Worth Symphony. I love pretty much all music with a few exceptions, and orchestra music is high on the list, right under anything ’80s.

Thankfully I didn’t have to drive to Fort Worth to enjoy some world-class music. The Graham Memorial Auditorium is home to the Graham Concert Association, which is responsible for bringing a talented musical artist to Young County each year, including the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra.

Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky is my favorite composer, most known simply as Tchaikovsky. His work is very powerful, and his 1812 overture is one of my favorites. Listening to a symphony performance always fills me with many different emotions and never fails to help me see God’s creation. It might sound weird, but things of extreme beauty always give me great faith in the Creator. To my core, I know music produced by a symphony is not random and is so beautiful, complex, and intense it must be inspired by God. Only the Creator, in my opinion, could have made something so magnificent. I feel the same way when I step out at night and look at the stars or visit a fine art museum.

As I grew in years, so did my different tastes in music. So, you could say my musical palette grew. I started with classic rock like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and ACDC, to name a few, then grew into 80s music of every type. Through my teenage angst years, I followed the thrash metal scene, and then later, when I settled down, I discovered classical music, mainly from symphonies. I grew to love symphony music in the beginning because of my love of movies. Star Wars had amazing orchestra music scores. From there, it piqued my curiosity, which grew into a love for symphonies. Symphonies can create very powerful works that will completely take you through all your emotions in a single sitting if you open yourself to the beauty of the music. What makes you think of God’s creations?

I look forward to many more adventures to the symphony and museums.

This is Will B. saying, you’re never too old to discover something new to love.
