Will B.
Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays.
Who doesn’t want to be someone or something different then who we are for one day? It’s a day to just have fun, dress up and load up on a sugar rush from candy and treats.
There are some that just go overboard saying it’s an evil holiday but for me I think it is all about innocent fun and not something to think too hard or deep on.
It can be a dark or light holiday depending on your point of view or how you perceive Halloween. For me it will always just be a day to have fun and dress up.
Halloween is a day for the kids to let loose and have a little fun and definitely one day of the year to load up on sweets before mom and dad go back to making you eat your vegetables.
Most things are okay in moderation as long as we don’t go overboard. That includes other things on normal days besides the overindulgence of candy on Halloween.
When we take things to excess it generally can become a bad thing. Too much steak and your heart may suffer, steak once a month or so and the protein is good for your muscles and taste buds, of course. A beer or glass of wine after a hard day is a stress relief but too much beer or wine every time, we have a stressful situation and it becomes a crutch that is not healthy.
Everything in life has a yin and yang, or positive and negative, and life is all about balance, whether it’s mental, physical or emotional.
This may not be a popular point of view but for me it includes religion. Don’t get me wrong I always pray three or four times a day and read my bible regularly and try to make it to church to fellowship as much as possible but too much of anything tends to burn us humans out.
It is healthy to take a step back and evaluate or just take a break. Going to church for the wrong reasons seems wrong to me, if I am only going because it’s what I am supposed to do, then it loses something.
As long as it doesn’t become a habit, it’s kind of like doing things for the wrong reason. It’s the thought behind something that makes all the difference to me. I don’t serve the community by taking photos of the events because I expect anything in return, I do it because I believe it is my way to serve the community and I believe as a Christian it is important to give back and serve.
I do it also because I love to do it which is the right reason to do it.
This is Will B saying, everything in moderation is a good thing and find a way to serve those around you.
