Publisher’s Points to Ponder:

The final month

It is hard to believe that 2019 is almost behind us. I think the time flies as we grow older. When I was younger, it seemed as though Christmas would never come. As an adult, I wonder why it happens so quickly. Well, the final month of 2019 is here and with its arrival comes reflection on the goals we set at the beginning of the year.

Although I did not set any goals in the form of new year’s resolutions, I did face many situations that became life lessons. These life lessons are the things I will reflect on in the final month. What life lessons have you learned this year? Think about the things you could have done differently. Think about the missed opportunities. If given another chance in 2020, what will change? Perhaps nothing needs to change.

One thing that needs to change for me is my approach to relationships. I have done a poor job nurturing the people in my life. I’ve allowed work, stress, lack of time and just about any excuse to justify my absence in their lives. It is a thing called work-life balance that seems to be a struggle formany people. If you struggle with balancing home and work, share your thoughts with us on Facebook/OlneyEnterprise or send an email to  publisher@olneyenterprise.com.

My email signature contains a quote by Winston Churchill, which says, “We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.” Now is the time to give ourselves to the people and things that matter most.

As I reflect on my actions in 2019, I know, without a doubt, I need to do a better job caring for the people in my life. Are you willing to do the same?
