Olney Senior Cub Center Chats
As we swelter in this relentless heat bubble that surrounds us, remember that our pets and critters of all kinds are also struggling to survive. They still need water to relieve their parched throats and some type of shade to give them an escape from the intensity of the sun’s rays. Do kind deeds for our furry and feathered friends by being considerate of their needs.
Watching a wide variety of birds sharing a precious puddle of water can be an inspiring sight. Big birds, little birds, and a few crazy birds were taking turns sipping that precious stuff and flitting off to make room for others to fetch a drink. All was going peaceably until that crazy guy jumped into the middle of the puddle and proceeded to take a bath. He dipped his head into the water and began shaking his body to splash himself all over. As water was splashing everywhere, the other birds were neither upset nor happy - they understood! Besides, they were quite happy to be splashed with those water droplets.
We are so very grateful for our cool Cub Center on these sweltering days especially! Ahh, we love our air conditioner guys for keeping us going! It seems to take a bit longer to visit with our buddies after eating each day; we do like to visit, but the thought of going outside into the furnace-like blast of hot air prompts us to “stay a little longer” than usual.
The Rex, Bill, Chandler, and James table is even pausing a bit longer to swap those tall stories before heading out. I call them the “back sliders” since they sit at the very back row of tables. What a fun bunch of guys! They come in smiling and they leave smiling. They have a great friendship going on and it is so fun to listen to them laughing and talking! Super guys! Super friendship! Love’m!
Our Climmie fell and broke her femur last week, so after her surgery in Ft. Worth she is back in Olney in the Hamilton Hospital for an extensive rehab stay. Give her a call or send a card if you can - they would really cheer her up. Room 137.
Bingo Day was fun - our delightful caller brought some great prizes and was such a sweet young woman. We look forward to seeing her next month. We are so blessed with home health care facilities that are so caring and attentive to our needs. Their blood pressure checks help us to stay on top of our own well-being. Thanks to those wonderful people with such caring hearts!
We appreciate you so much! Thank a firefighter! All week long, seek out a firefighter or several and thank them for all they do to protect us and our properties! They are VOLUNTEERS! They choose to do this service for us, so let’s show our gratitude!
Have a great week. Be thankful ! Be considerate! Be a blessing to others EVERY day!
