Brrrr! Old Man Winter has descended on us with bone-chilling temperatures! The wind is the big culprit since it plummets the actual readings due to the wind-chill factor. Whatever the reason, bundle up and stay warm! Toboggans are the choice of Bob Dillard to keep his noggin warm- an apt choice. Most of the guys at the Center wear caps to help protect against the cold. Whatever they wear, they rush inside a little quicker these days. Smart fellas!!

Just how do we cope with the cold? For sure, thermostats have been adjusted. Short sleeves have been replaced by long sleeves and sweaters have been seen lately. Edwana Fikes has been wearing her knitted attire quite often since the cold snap arrived, while others have donned jackets, sweatshirts, or coats. Whatever you wear, make sure it will keep you toasty warm.

Wow, we have some great features on our vehicles these days! That heated seat option is a favorite function during the cold, but my favorite is the heated steering wheel! Fingers wrapped around that warm circle get toasty warm and stop hurting from the frigid temps. Kinda wish they had a nose-warmer also, but guess the heater vents are supposed to take care of that. Ahh! I really appreciate those innovative car designers who have our comfort in mind.

Our birthday gals for November were Nancy Bowden, our creator of tasty meals here at The Center, and that sweet, soft- spoken Mary Butler. Happy wishes to those two ladies. Mary couldn’t make it to cake and ice cream celebration, but the rest of us certainly chowed down heartedly!

This week we said a farewell to Candy Alercon who moved to south Texas to live closer to family - and to a warmer clime. Our best wishes go with her as she gets closer to kids and to the farm life she loves. Pet those animals and gather those fresh eggs - have a great life!

Our sweet friend and domino player was laid to rest Saturday the 19th. Our dear friend, Barbara Walker, went to her reward. Sadness gives way to rejoicing as we realize that we all share that fate. She will certainly be missed here at the Center. Her smile, her wit, her presence were such a joy to us. Nobody played nello like her and what a whiz she was. Many people wear those phone holders around their necks that she happily crocheted for them. She was a talented lady, indeed. Her deviled eggs and that wonderful dip she often made for us were always a big hit. Bon Voyage dear friend, until we meet again.

In this holiday of Thanksgiving, be especially thankful for your friends and family. Try to help someone less fortunate than yourself. Enjoy the little things and share your enthusiasm with others. Be satisfied with what you have and rejoice that you can share the blessings you have.

You cannot change yesterday, that is clear, or begin tomorrow until it is here. So the only thing for you and for me is to make TODAY as sweet as can be. Have a great Thanksgiving y’all.
