Olney Senior Cub Center
Sensory Refresh! Sensory Refresh! Olfactory Lobe - Ahh, smell that rain! That wet dirt smell that brings smiles to our faces and relief to our souls!
Eyes - See that wet stuff falling from the heavens for hours! See those bright streaks of lightning!
Touch - Feel those droplets splattering on the skin!
Sound - Listen to the lovely chorus of rain accompanied by those thunder rolls !
Pitter Patter, Drip Drip, Boom Boom, Crash Crash! Ahh, life is good! Nature supplies the best symphonies, whether it’s thunderstorm, babbling brook, waterfall, warbling birds, or children laughing. Yes, life is good!
Rain brings out the little-kid syndrome of kicking off shoes and splashing through puddles while giggling uncontrollably! The birds love to join that splashing in puddles while twittering little ditties for our entertainment. Did I mention that life is good? Well, I reiterate!!
Congratulations to Olney schools for their “A” rating. Good teachers and good students go hand in hand to receive such excellence. Be sure to show your pride in them - they deserve it!
September looms on the horizon and that means Texoma Gives time. The Cub Center will be open all day on September 8 providing coffee and donuts starting at 6 a.m., a bingo session beginning at 10:30 with prizes, and other activities and drawings for prizes. Come on down and join the fun! We appreciate those of you who donate to our cause and hope you will continue to partner with us for the feeding of our Olney people.
All I knew was that Kiki had helped Valorie Mahler to deliver meals for us . Well, now that I’ve asked Valorie what her last name was, I can now thank Kiki WILSON for helping deliver Meals on Wheels for the Center. Thank you Kiki for teaming up Valorie to help us out. Hopefully another star will be added to your crown. You are appreciated!!
Manuel and Christi Garcia got back a day after their vacation ended. The transmission went out on their truck on the way home and had to be towed to Dalhart to their daughter’s house. So, no black pickup delivering meals yet. Maybe they can find a transmission soon.
August 25th will be “birthday celebration day” at the Center, so come help us sing “Happy Birthday” to our August babies and share a piece of cake with them.
If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude about it. Makes sense.
