New Year’s Resolutions

New Year’s Resolutions

My Nickel’s Worth

New Year’s Resolutions are almost cliched. Why do we need a new date on a calendar to make a fresh start?  I don’t usually set New Year’s resolutions. In fact, I think they can set us up for failure.  Instead, I use prayer and self-evaluation quite often to determine new goals I need to set for myself. Last summer, I did some soul-searching and praying. I did not really like how I was spending my free time. I was playing video games, watching too much Netflix, and eating unhealthy. So, I gave up all of the video games, limited my television time, joined a gym, and started watching what I ate. I feel better, and I am thankful that I felt led to do these things. But I didn’t have to wait until a new year rolled around to make positive changes in my life. In other words, you can start something new or change your lifestyle on August 23--or any other day on the calendar. Just ask God to guide you and be open and disciplined to make these choices.
