My Nickel’s Worth

With Thanksgiving now behind us, Christmas season has officially begun. Every year, our Christmas traditions always start the weekend after Thanksgiving. We eat leftovers in the days followed by Thanksgiving and then we decorate the tree at my Nana’s house with my cousins. Decorating the tree at my grandparent’s house is a tradition that has been around in our family for as long as I can remember.

Each year after Thanksgiving, we will all get together to begin the holidays. We always play games, have delicious meals and desserts, and decorate the tree with a Christmas movie playing in the background. This year was no different except being more careful with COVID-19 still ongoing. December is one of my favorite months of the year because of the time I am able to spend with family, as well as celebrating the birth of Jesus. As I have discussed in previous articles, there are times in life where things are constantly changing, but being able to go to my Nana and Papa’s house with my grandparents, Aunt, Uncle and cousins to celebrate Christmas is something that has never changed that remains a safety net for me.

No matter what changes occur in my life, I will always be able to see my family on the holidays.
