How Epstein Got Away

In criminal investigations, it’s often said that the only ingredients required for a crime are means, motive, and opportunity. “Motive” is the desire or need to commit the crime in question.

In the film, “The Princess Bride,” Inigo Montoya informs his victim that said victim killed his father, and now he must die. Inigo Montoya had the motive to kill his target to get revenge for the death of his father. However, it is vital to allow the justice system to work rather than seeking revenge.

The motive of Jeffrey Epstein is very simple: sin. But beyond satisfying impulses, his network, recruitment systems, and social engineering reveal a man obsessed with control: over victims, institutions, and even powerful men.

Now, for the sake of honesty, I need to point out that serial predators do not simply choose a person off the street based on what their victim is wearing.

The predator will track the person for days, weeks, even months at a time before making a move. As such, the fault is in the perpetrator, not their victim.

Some studies show a connection between men who engage in violent or exploitative acts toward women and the consumption of media that objectifies or degrades women — though this does not mean such media alone causes these behaviors. Please note that this is correlation, not causation.

When Rebecca approached Isaac to be his wife (Genesis 24), she covered herself with her veil. It seems that she wanted him to find beauty in her hard work and love for God, not her looks.

Likewise, when Jesus appeared to His disciples at the Sea of Tiberias (John 21), Peter clothed himself in proper attire once he realized that Jesus was there. In the same way, men need to dress respectfully at all times.

To bring it back to a modern example, let me take you to my high school. Like many others, there was a dress code banning exposed skin and visible underwear. Yet, enforcement seemed inconsistent. In the four years that I was there, this dress code for these two seemed to rarely be enforced. I came to school with a shirt that said that all children need to be protected from the horrors of abortion, and I was sent to the office. It seemed as if my high school had very backwards priorities.

Naturally, I could go on and talk about this a lot more, but I think the short version is that society has devalued men and women both to be little more than their bodies.

Bringing this back to Epstein, again, it has been found that those who consume lewd images regularly are the most likely to engage in unspeakable acts. The motive is quite simple: Epstein exploited an already corrupted mind and soul. Studies have found a correlation between regular consumption of lewd images and a higher likelihood of engaging in unspeakable acts. Epstein exploited a mind and soul already corrupted by such influences. That is why we must address this motive early — in our youth.
