Enjoying Christmas

Enjoying Christmas

“It was the night before Christmas in all was quiet, not a creature could be heard not even a mouse.” I would quote the poems author, but I am sure I thoroughly messed it up. My wife makes fun of me often because I always just make up my own words when singing along to songs and while trying to remember words to other things.

I love summer most, but I love the fall holidays more. The reason is, I get to have more time with my wife (that is, if she isn’t down the road helping her Dad with the cows). You would think after almost 23 years we would be tired of each other, but you would be wrong. I love her more as each year rolls by and enjoy spending as much time as I can with her.

That is one reason I love Christmas. I do enjoy the gifts. I would be fibbing if I said I did not. Another reason I love Christmas is because it is the day when my Savior Jesus Chris was born. This was the greatest gift of all. In my opinion this is the greatest gift anyone could receive. God sacrificed his son to die on the cross for my sins so that I may be saved and receive eternal life. For some, it is the thought of being saved from the burning pit or an eternity of pain and torture in hell. Those are not the things I think about or am glad for my salvation. Jesus filled a gaping black hole in me with his love. I look forward to being able to be in God’s and Jesus’ presence. To feel his love radiating. Total peace and love with my fellow believers.

When I think of hell, I think of being separated from my God and Jesus. Not feeling his love. God loved us so much he sacrificed his only son and Jesus loved us so much he sacrificed himself on the cross so we could obtain salvation. If that does not show us he loves us, I don’t know what would. That is the kind of love that can and does fill all my needs. Before I received Jesus, I was filled with despair and tried all manner of things to fill the emptiness that was missing in my heart. This is Will B. saying, remember the best gift of all on Christmas and share that love with those around you.
