“The LORD appeared to him from afar, saying, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore I have drawn you with loving kindness.” Jeremiah 31:3 NASBS

As I reflect upon God’s gracious mercy and His goodness towards me, I humbly bow my knee before Him, saying, “ye and amen.” For truly the greatest miracle that God bestows upon His children is not the raising of the dead or the healing of the blind, but His mercy in which He freely bestows to those who come to Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. As I evaluate my own life at the end of each day I concur with the apostle Paul, “For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not. For the good that I want, I do not do, but I practice the very evil that I do not want. But if I am doing the very thing I do not want, I am no longer the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me. I find then the principle that evil is present in me, the one who wants to do good. For I joyfully delight with the law of God in the inner man, but I see a different law in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin which is in my members. Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!”

Christian, regardless of your darkened heart, God overshadowed it with His omnipotent love before you were ever born, as it is written, “For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb. My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth; Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written The days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was not one of them. How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them!” In the fullness of the time, while we were dead in our trespasses and sins, The Lord spoke, “Hitherto shalt thou come.” For while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to Him through the death of his Son, much more having been reconciled, we will be saved through His life. For God, through Jesus Christ, poured out his love in our heart’s through the Holy Spirit crying, “Abba Father.”

Brothers and sisters, The Lord has loved you with an everlasting love and has drawn you to Him with loving kindness. He has lavished you with His grace and you are in Christ seated in the heavenly places. Though you suffer many trials in this present life you have overcome come the world because Jesus has overcome the world. Take heart my brothers and sisters, for just has sure as the sun will rise each morning, your salvation is secure in the arms of Christ, Who holds the entire world in its place.
