A circumsized heart

Christian, praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to Him alone, be praise forevermore. It was God, the One Who created the heavens and the earth, Who set forth a redemptive plan from eternity past, not only to save a people for Himself, but to do so by intrinsically changing man’s evil nature to long for the righteousness which is only found in His beloved Son, Jesus Christ. This alone is the greatest miracle that was ever conceived in the mind of this Infinite Deity Who is worthy of our worship and our entire devotion. You see, all humanity, apart from the miracle rebirth of salvation, is darkened and filled with vile corruptions. Though he may not know it, sin has corrupted every part of his life, from his reasoning skills all the way down to the hidden desires that no one knows about. Those secret thoughts of sexual immorality, adultery, theft, savagery, and other fleshly indulgences that are hidden in the secret parts of the heart that burn like embers just waiting to be ignited by hell itself. Understand dear friend, the seed of hatred, violence, and immorality are birthed in all who are born of woman. They are “filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful.” “There is none righteous, no, not one; There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God. They have all turned aside; They have together become worthless; There is none who does good, no, not one.” “Their throat is an open tomb; With their tongues they have practiced deceit”; “The poison of asps is under their lips”; “Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.” “Their feet are swift to shed blood; Destruction and misery are in their ways; And the way of peace they have not known.” “There is no fear of God before their eyes.” “For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” “The whole head is sick And the whole heart is faint. From the sole of the foot even to the head There is nothing sound in them.”

Christian, you were lost, bound in chains of darkness awaiting eternal destruction, but God delivered you. He rescued you from the domain of darkness and transferred you into the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom you have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. “In him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead. And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands.

This He set aside, nailing it to the cross.” “For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified.”

Reader, if somehow this small devotion has come to you and your heart has not been circumcised by the Spirit of God, that is, you cannot see the foulness of your sinful heart and a need for a savior, cry out to this great King Who reigns in heaven.

Tell Him of your condition and ask Him to reveal His only Son, Jesus Christ, to you.

Ask Him to show you Jesus hanging on the tree bearing the wrath that is due to you. Plead with Him and pursue Him with all of your heart. The Lord, the God of Israel, will not turn you away.
