Olney Senior Cub Center

Welcome Mr. Winter!! Guess he’d been extending his vacation in Belize or some equally tropical place and just wasn’t ready to make an appearance until now. Changing of the seasons bring new scenes and opportunities; each one trying to outdo the last. Embrace winter and the beauty it brings.

Congratulations to our students and athletes on all their achievements thus far this school year. Olney should be very proud of our young people for their commitment to excellence and for all the hard work they devote to their aspirations. Way to go CUBS!

One week until Thanksgiving, believe it or not!! Ahh! Those smells that waft throughout the house are intoxicating! Funny how our mouths water and our tummies start rumbling at those delightful aromas. An-tic-i-pa-tion!! Hope all of you have a day of feasting and fellowship, and a day of THANKFULNESS for all your blessings .

November 11: A day to pay tribute and honor to our Veterans. Once again, the Cub Center was honored to host the event. We are always thrilled to be a part of honoring those who gave so much for us. A delicious stew and cornbread meal really warmed the tummies on a cold blustery day.

Light trees up ‘cause Santa is coming in (gasp) one month! Such a good time of the year!! Everybody seems to follow the example of that jolly red-suited guy by adding a “bit of jolly” to their demeanor. How we love those beautifully decorated yards and houses! We never seem to outgrow our “child within us” during the Christmas holidays. It’s the memories and people, not the presents, that bring the joy of the season. It’s a time of visiting and sharing and remembering the reason for the season.

Make the most of each day as they come because once they are gone, they can’t be experienced again. Touch somebody with kindness every day.
