Sonny Glazener

Sonny Glazener, age 81, of Kingsland, Texas, formerly of Olney, Texas, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2018 at Hospice of Wichita Falls. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Olney, with Bro. Andy Graham, pastor of Southside Baptist Church in Olney, officiating, assisted by Pastor Trey Rienstra of the Genesis Lutheran Church in Buchanan Dam, Texas. Interment will follow in Megargel Cemetery under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Sonny was born March 23, 1937 in Wichita Falls, Texas to the late Charlie B. and Jeanette (Fulton) Glazener. He married Billye Sue Duke on June 15, 1954 in Vernon, Texas and they had two children, Janell and Mike. He drove a modified stock car many years in Wichita Falls and Lawton. Sonny was a member and served as a Deacon at Southside Baptist Church in Olney, a former board member of the Olney Senior Cub Center, and a former member of the Baptist General Convention of Texas WAC Disaster Recovery Team. He was voted Citizen of the Year in 2002 by the Olney Chamber of Commerce. Sonny was the chief cook for Olney’s One Arm Dove Hunt for 34 years, and he volunteered and cooked for many civic and school organizations. He was retired from the Texas Department of Transportation and Highways. After Billye passed away, he married Alice Pryor on May 14, 2008 in Buchanan Dam, Texas. Sonny was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Mike Glazener on October 6, 1975; his first wife, Billye Glazener on August 2, 2007; and a sister, Cynthia Boren.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Glazener of Kingsland, Texas; one daughter, Janell Hubbard and husband Billy of Olney, Texas; two granddaughters: Michelle Riddles and husband Bryan of Wichita Falls, Texas, and their children, Ashlyn and Landri, and Jennifer Lane and husband Brandon of Olney, Texas, and their children, Caden and Libby; one step-daughter, Kim Collier and husband Ricky of Bertram, Texas; one step-son, James Pryor and wife Sherry of Arlington, Texas; nine stepgrandchildren; four step-greatgrandchildren; one sister, Kay Perkins and husband Ernest of Vashti, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

Family visitation will be Tuesday, July 17, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Lunn Funeral Home in Olney.
