Obituary: Jill Elizabeth Martin

Jill Elizabeth Martin, age 67, died Sunday, April 12, 2020 in Olney. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Jill was born May 8, 1952 in Seymour, Texas to James E. and Patricia (Avary) Kunkel. She graduated from Olney High School in 1971 and then received her Bachelor’s Degree from Midwestern State University. Jill did abstract work for drilling companies until her retirement. She was a longtime resident of Olney and attended Southside Baptist Church. She loved working in the yard and gardening. Jill was preceded in death by her father, James Kunkel; her maternal grandparents, Otis and Eulene Avary; and her paternal grandparents, R.H. and Blake Kunkel.

Jill is survived by her daughter, Meredith Hayley Martin of River Oaks, Texas; one grandson, Zachry Martin; one granddaughter, Carmella Martin; her mother, Patricia Kunkel of Olney, Texas; two sisters, Jayne Hutson and husband Steve of Santa Fe, New Mexico and Susan Thompson and husband Mark of Graham, Texas; niece, Lauren Kelly and husband Patrick and their son Ryan; niece, Kathryn Finley and husband Rob and their son “Ro”; niece, Jennifer Peavy and husband Phillip and their son Heath; and nephew, Blake Thompson.
