Obituary: Jack Neal

Jack Neal, age 67, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2021 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 16, 2021, at Horizon Country Church in Olney with Frankie Bailey, pastor, officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Jack was born January 31, 1954 in Olney, Texas to the late T. H. “Goober” Neal and Theda Jo (Thompson) Neal. He graduated from Newcastle High School in 1972, where he was active in 4-H Horse Club. Upon graduation, he pursued his life-long dream of being a cowboy and went to work on the Waggoner Ranch. He worked there until 1975 and then went to work for Hughes & Palmer for several years. He married Pam Hughes in 1975. She preceded him in death on December 23, 2016. Jack had a true passion for cowboying, and he had worked for many ranches in Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona. Jack always gave credit to Jerry Roach for teaching him the art of working with horses. He loved to rope whether in a pasture catching stray cattle or in an arena team roping. He also worked in numerous feed lots and also enjoyed shoeing horses. Jack never turned down a good opportunity to have a beer and swap stories with friends. He loved to draw western art; but most of all, Jack loved to dance with Pam, the love of his life. Jack also enjoyed making homemade banana pudding. He was a lifetime resident of Young County, was a past member of the Olney Rodeo Association, and was a member of the Horizon Country Church in Olney.

Jack is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Clint and Carmen Neal of Olney, Texas; his daughter, Melinda Neal of Dallas, Texas; two granddaughters, Chloe Neal and Clara Neal both of Olney, Texas; his brother, Mack Neal of Nashville, Tennessee; and a host of special friends.
