Obituary: Doris Perry Clanahan

Doris Perry Clanahan, age 96, passed away on Friday, July 9, 2021, at Grace Care Center in Olney, Texas. Family visitation will be Monday, July 12, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Lunn Funeral Home in Olney. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Olney with Chad Edgington, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Cemetery under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Doris was born on September 29, 1924, in Ellis County, Texas to the late William Elmore and Essie (Yarborough) Elmore. She graduated from Mertens High School in 1943. She married Billy Perry on March 3, 1943 in Mertens, Texas. He preceded her in death on November 30, 2000. She later married Lloyd Clanahan on April 17, 2004 in Olney. He preceded her in death on September 14, 2019. Doris was a long-time resident of Olney and a faithful member of First Baptist Church. She served as secretary at First Baptist Church from 1955 to 1987. She was a faithful servant and had taught adult ladies Sunday School for many years and sang in the adult choir. Doris was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and always had a smile reflecting her love of her family and her church family. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands and six siblings.

Doris is survived by her son, Larry Perry and wife Yevonne of Olney; her daughter, Gala Badgley of St. Petersburg, Florida; seven grandchildren, Caryn Dinwiddie and husband Rick of Olney, Russ Adams and wife Shannon of Olney, Melissa Graham of Delta, Colorado, Melynn Conway and husband John of Wichita Falls, Meliene Perry of Wichita Falls, Kim Bailey of Olney and Josh Badgley of Palmetto, Florida; twenty great-grandchildren; twenty-one great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Harold Elmore of Carrollton, Texas, and Kenneth Elmore and wife Pat of Kennedale, Texas
