Obituary: Dorcille Carr Allen

Dorcille Carr Allen, 97, of Wichita Falls, Texas, passed away on December 24, 2019.

Scotte Clark will officiate a private graveside service for the family at Restland Cemetery in Olney. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn’s Colonial Funeral Home.

One of eight children of Tom V. and Maggie Carr, Dorcille was born on August 25, 1922, in Megargel.

She married Dalton Lee Allen on April 25, 1941 and they made their home in Olney. She was a one-woman office for Thomas-Milford Oil Well and Cementing Co., and also worked for Weaver and Tidwell in Olney. When she moved to Wichita Falls in 1981, Dorcille worked at Pat Walker’s Figure Salon. Dorcille enjoyed cooking, oil painting, playing the organ, doing crossword puzzles, and reading her Bible. She was a longtime, faithful member of the Church of Christ, where she was very active and involved.

Dorcille was preceded in death by her husband, Dalton Allen, her parents, her three brothers:  Houston, Austin, and Dennie Carr, and four sisters: Lora Flippen, Pat Hardegree, Lois Branch, and Glendora Hill. She survived by her two daughters: Sylvia (Alan) Lewis, of Olney, and Shirlaine (Richard) Ward of Wichita Falls. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Brenda (Harvey) Bartlein of St. Peters, Missouri, Debra (Mark) Tapley of Alamogordo, New Mexico, Natalie Rue of Seattle, Washington, Barbara (Malis) Wilds also of  Seattle, Zac (Amy) Ward of Wichita Falls, Beth (Nicki) Ward of Austin,  John (Laura)  Ward of Round Rock, and Michael (Kayla) Ward of Saginaw. She is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren.
