Obituary: Bobby L. Self

Bobby L. Self, age 86, of Olney, Texas passed away on Friday, October 11, 2019 at Graham Oaks Care Center in Graham, Texas. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 14, 2019 in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home in Olney with Andy Graham, pastor of Southside Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Restland Cemetery in Olney. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Bobby was born on March 10, 1933, in Proffitt, Texas, to the late Wilbur Marcus “Pete” Self and Vera Wayne (Lewis) Self. He graduated from Newcastle High School and served in the United States Army. Bobby was a longtime resident of Olney and was a retired Barber. He was a member of the Olney Volunteer Fire Department and retired in 1996 after thirty-five years of faithful service. He was a member of First Baptist Church and also attended Southside Baptist Cowboy Church. Bobby married Shirley Wright on September 6, 1954 in Graham, Texas. She preceded him in death on December 27, 2009. He later married Betty Langford in February, 2016.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Shirley, and his son, Lewis Wayne Self on July 28, 1988.

Bobby is survived by his wife, Betty Self of Graham; one son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Lisa Self of Olney; one daughter and son-in-law, Tracy and Jeff Black of Ganado, Texas; six grandchildren: Dustin Self, Matthew Self, Robert Black, Nathan Black, JaCee Black, Kaylah Hampton; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Betsey Green of Abilene, Texas.
