Melanie Dawn Dixon

Former Olney resident Melanie Dawn Dixon, 55, of Wichita Falls, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2018 at Hospice of Wichita Falls. A celebration of life will be planned later. Born August 3,1963 in Olney, she was an Olney High School graduate and attended Vernon College. She worked for 21 years for Gene Linton at Allstate as suppor t staff until illness lead to her retirement. Melanie was an active member of Southwest Baptist Church in Wichita Falls where she had taught a children’s Sunday school class and sang in the choir. In addition to being a great cook she had baked and decorated wedding and birthday cakes for family and friends. Sur vivor s include her children Larry and Teresa Lane of Amarillo and El izabeth Dixon of Wichita Falls; three grandchildren Shannon Lane of St. Marys, GA, Grayson Dixon of Wichita Falls, and Lily Lane of Amarillo; her mother, Pat Calvin of Olney; her sister, Susan and Denis Jeske and brother, Bobby and Carol Wainscott all of Olney; aunts, Mary and Doug Jennings of Tyler, and Janeta and Martin Lee of Olney; nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Melanie was also a beloved daughter-in-law and sister-in-law. She was preceded in death by her father and his wife, Wayne and Mary Wainscott; an aunt, Arlene Huffman; and an infant grandson Gidion Dixon.
