Mattie June Perry

Mattie June Perry

Mattie June (Partain) Perry, lovingly known as June or Mama June to those around her, was born on May 22, 1933, to Earl and Mattie (Gary) Partain in Olney, Texas. June spent her childhood in Olney alongside her five siblings. She attended Olney schools and graduated, carrying with her the memories of a childhood spent in the town she loved.

They say when you know, you know, and at just 17 years old, June married the love of her life, Charles Kenneth Perry, in her parents’ living room in 1950. From that day forward, they shared 62 years of love, laughter, and cherished memories together until his passing in 2012. Their love grew into a beautiful family, and their union was blessed with four children who brought them endless joy and love throughout the years.

Charles’ career in the United States Air Force took the couple to Illinois and San Antonio before they eventually made their way back home to Olney, Texas. After Charles’ passing, June moved to Noble, Oklahoma, to be closer to her family. There, she found a special place of comfort and belonging at the Noble Church of Christ. She cherished the fellowship of those around her and quickly found a welcoming church family who made Noble feel like home.

June enjoyed sewing, and in her younger years, she lovingly made dresses and outfits for herself and her daughter. She was also a member of an a cappella women’s quartet, sharing her love of music with those around her. June was known for her wonderful sense of humor and her quick wit. When asked where her quartet would sing, she would jokingly reply, “The street corner.”

June was a devout Christian who faithfully attended the Church of Christ wherever life took her. She lived out the love of Christ in the way she welcomed and cared for others, and it was evident in the many friendships she formed throughout her life. June and Charlie were known for frequently opening their home to others, where fellowship, laughter, and love were always abundant. Her children fondly remember a home filled with faith, love, and the presence of Christ.

In the short time between September 23 and her passing, June received 123 visits from family and friends. The outpouring of love and time shared with her was a beautiful reflection of just how deeply she was loved and cherished by those around her.

June went to her eternal home on September 30, 2026, surrounded by her dear family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charlie; her parents, Earl and Mattie; and her siblings, Edna Earl Cogburn, Thell Partain, Harold Partain, Laverne Kirby, and Shirley Welch.

Her memory will continue to shine through her children, Kenny Perry and wife Sharon, Denise Williams and husband Glen, Bobby Perry and wife Carol, and Andy Perry; her thirteen grandchildren; and her seventeen great-grandchildren. She will also be lovingly remembered by the many friends and Christian family she leaves behind, who look forward to the day they will be reunited with her once again.

A formal visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, October 2, 2026, at Tribute Memorial Care in Norman, Oklahoma.
