Mary Oleta McGee, 90, of Olney, Texas, passed away Monday, January 25, 2016. Burial will be at Red Top Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 29, 2016 under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Olney with Rev. Harrell Braddock, Jr. officiating.

Oleta was born March 29, 1925 in Young County, Texas to John L. Langston and Irene (Orr) Langston. She grew up in Young County and graduated from Olney High School. She was a member of First United Methodist Church where she taught children’s Sunday school for over thirty years. She was also a member of the quilting group at church for many years. She was involved in many activities throughout her children and grandchildren’s lives.

Oleta married Bill McGee on January 26, 1947, and enjoyed 58 years of marriage before his death on September 22, 2005. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and children. In later years, she and Bill took many trips with her siblings. Oleta was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister Loree Guinn, brothers Leroy Langston, Derwood Langston and Jimmy Langston.

Oleta is survived by her son, Bill McGee of Taos, New Mexico and her daughter, Marilynn (David) Ickert of Olney; her grandchildren: Andrew (Rachel) Ickert, Kara (Joel) Blanco and Mark (Jordan) Ickert and great-grandchildren Emily Ickert, Alex Ickert, Evan Blanco, Cole Ickert and Bryson Blanco. She is also survived by her sister, Sammye Knox of Graham, Texas, sisters-in-law Betty McGee, Evelyn McGee, Ruby Langston and Billie Langston as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Lunn Funeral Home in Olney.
