Mary Ann Foster

Mary Ann Foster (84) of Olney, Texas,  joined the multitude of the heavenly host on January 5, 2020 after a brief illness. She embarked upon her final journey surrounded by her children and grand children.  Mary Ann was the daughter of Howard H. Walker and Thelma I. (McCaghren-Walker) Cook, formerly of Olney and Lubbock.  Born on January 10, 1935 in Dallas, Mary Ann went to Lubbock High School.  She played the clarinet in the band and there she met her future husband.  She married Johnnie C. West in 1952.  Mr. West preceded her in death on April 25, 1982.  Together they are survived by 6 children:  Bobby G. West, John L. West (Vicki), Shery A. West (Jeff Daniels),  Ami L. Powell (Michael), Howard G. West (Susan), and Jenny L. Stephens (Mike).  Mary Ann is also survived by her brother Dr. Howard W. Walker (Annie) of Killeen, Texas.  She was blessed with 17 grand children and many great-grand children, nieces, nephews and cousins.   

In 1987, Mary Ann married William O. “Bill” Foster.  Together they lived in Jean, Texas for many years. Bill preceded her in death on December 16, 2019.  Mr. Foster is survived by a son, William “Bill” Foster, Jr. and his wife Linda of Gorman, Texas and a daughter, Kathy Foster Florez.

For her many years as an LVN,  Mary Ann cared for patients in Olney, Graham, Wichita Falls, and Archer City. Prior to moving to Olney,  she lived in Nacogdoches and Longview, Texas, where she worked in public schools as a teacher’s aid and assistant librarian.  She loved arts and crafts as well as cooking for her friends and family.  

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at Lunn Funeral Home in Olney. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2020 in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home with burial at Restland Cemetery in Olney. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home in Olney. John West will officiate the services.
