Marthel Burns

Marthel Burns, 94, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2022 in Graham. Graveside funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Friday April 8, 2022 at Restland Cemetery in Olney, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Marthel was born September 26, 1927 in Sagerton, Texas to Flossie Mae Grisham Bell and John Bell. She married Homer Burns July 15, 1947 in Graham. He preceded her in death on February 15, 1999. Marthel was a longtime resident of Young County and former employee of Haggar Slacks in Olney. She enjoyed working in her big garden raising vegetables and fruits to can and always had a flower garden. Marthel enjoyed flea markets, garage selling, and visits from her grandkids.

Survivors include; daughters, Charlotte Watson and husband Bruce of Mineral Wells, Brenda Sharp of Missouri, Martha Burns of Wichita Falls, Gayla Burns of Graham, Donna Davis and husband Weldon of Royce City, Wanda Montgomery of Seymour; son, Gene Burns and wife Sandy of Olney; 15 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Osborn of Graham and Johnny Plunk of Clyde.

Marthel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son Douglas Burns, brothers Marvin and Donald Bell, and sister Patsy Reed.

Family Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home.
