Lillian Kunkel Cates, age 97, passed away on December 5, 2016 at her home in Weatherford, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday December 10, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Weatherford, Texas, with Rev. Tim Fraker, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at the St. Luke Lutheran Cemetery in Olney. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Lillian was born on April 8, 1919 in Olney, Texas to Victor Wilhelm and Rosa Emilia (Dorpat) Kunkel. She married Millard Cates on September 3, 1944 in Denver, Colorado. She was an engineering Administration Assistant for General Dynamics in Fort Worth for 31 years. She was a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. She moved to Weatherford in 1958 from Fort Worth, Texas.

Mrs. Cates was preceded in death by her husband; Millard Cates on March 17, 1999 and by one Son; Timothy Dean Cates on December 3, 1950.

Lillian was survived by one brother; Edgar V. Kunkel and his wife Edalene of Corpus Christi, Texas; Sister-In-Law: Hilda Laura Kunkel of Round Rock, Texas; Nieces and Nephews: Ronald Kunkel and his wife Mary Lynn of Leander, Texas; Robert Kunkel and his wife Cindy of Austin, Texas; Leonard Wayne Kunkel and his wife Angela of Kirbyville, Missouri; Jeanine Kunkel McGregor of Granbury, Texas; Dennis Kunkel of Portland, Texas; Jacqueline Kunkel of Round Rock, Texas; Yvonne Kunkel Hennessey and her husband Bill of Plano, Texas; Pastor Lee Ross Kunkel and his wife Debbie of Brenham, Texas; Dr. Dale A. Kunkel, DDS and his wife Diane of Neosho, Missouri; Robert A. Kunkel and his wife Judy of Corpus Christi, Texas; Vonda White Palmer and her husband Thomas of Goodland, Kansas; Patricia Jane Cates of Smith Center, Kansas; Terry Dale Cates of Manzanola, Colorado; Mary Wiehl of Olathe, Kansas; Jerry G. Cates of Billings, Montana; Larry Lee Kunkel of Miramar Beach, Florida; Patricia Ann Kunkel Jones and her husband Russell of Louisville, Kentucky; and by her beloved God Daughter, Sharon Wiley of Weatherford, Texas. A host of great nephews, nieces and loving friends and church friends also survive.

Family visitation will be on Friday, December 9, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Lunn Funeral Home.
