Lee Ester Bennett

Lee Ester Bennett, age 94, died Thursday, October 17, 2019 at Grace Care Center in Olney. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, October 21, 2019 at Lunn Funeral Home in Olney. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2019, in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Restland Cemetery in Olney. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home.

Lee Ester was born on December 14, 1924 in Como, Texas to the late Lee Edward White and Jewel L. (Nelson) White. She moved to Olney in 1951 from Greenville, Texas. She was a member of Rising Star Baptist Church and also attended Southside Baptist Church. She married Richard Bennett on December 23, 1953 in Olney. He preceded her in death on April 26, 2015. Lee Ester had worked as a beautician and nurses aide and she loved gardening and working outside in her free time. She was a very loving and kind-hearted person who spoke the truth whether you liked it or not. If she liked you, you knew it; but, if she didn’t like you, you also knew it. Lee Ester was famous for her peanut patties and did not pass on the recipe it was her secret recipe.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Richard; three brothers, Willie Wilbert White, Elbert White, Hilton White; and three sisters, Elnora Britt, Occie Lee McGill and Marie Harvey.

Survivors include her daughter, Constance Arrington of Garland, Texas; three sisters, Lorine Hunter of Quitman, Texas, Dimple King of Dallas, Texas and Shirley Clark of San Antonio, Texas; one granddaughter, Courtney Arrington of Dallas, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
