Joanne Wright

Joanne Wright, age 79, died Friday, September 2, 2016 in Olney. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2016, in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home with Andy Graham, pastor of Southside Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Cemetery under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney, Texas.

Joanne was born on September 23, 1936 in Graham, Texas to the late Floyd and Ruby (Collins) Owen. She graduated from Olney High School and was a lifelong resident of Olney. She married Gib Wright on April 30, 1955 in Olney. She was a faithful member of Southside Baptist Church. Joanne was the secretary for Olney High School from 1970 to 1973. She worked at Richard Lunsford Insurance Agency for 26 years, and was the secretary for the First United Methodist Church for several years until her retirement. Joanne was an avid fan of the Texas Rangers baseball team, and never missed an episode of Walker Texas Ranger.

Joanne was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Bob Owen.

Joanne is survived by her loving husband of sixty-one years, Gib Wright of Olney; two sons: Keith Wright of Walterboro, South Carolina and Kent Wright of Olney; two sisters: Betty Langford Self and husband Bob of Olney and Barbara Hobbs and husband Truman of Tempe, Arizona; and one granddaughter.

Memorials may be made to an Olney charity of your choice.

Family visitation will be on Monday, September 5, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Lunn Funeral Home in Olney.
