James Lee Northcott, beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather, went to be with our Lord on October 29, 2016 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Military Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at Restland Cemetery in Olney with Harrell Braddock, minister of First United Methodist Church of Olney, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

James Lee Northcott was born to Beulah Wilson and Bennie Lee Northcott in Thorndale, Texas on July 22, 1925. James spent most of his youth in Megargel, Texas, but moved to Olney in 1942. He graduated from Olney High School in 1943 and enlisted in the Army in October of that same year. He served in K Company of the 115th Infantry Regiment 29th Infantry Division. He was part of the Normandy Invasion at Omaha Beach in June 1944. He was wounded in St. Lo France on July 13, 1944. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. After his service, he returned to Olney and married his High School Sweetheart, Dorris Goodloe on June 9, 1946 at the First United Methodist Church in Olney. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on June 9th of this year. Jim worked for McCullough Tool Company, later NL McCullough, for 42 years with stops in Guymon, Oklahoma, Wichita Falls, Cisco, Abilene and Snyder, Texas. He retired in 1989 in Snyder, Texas. James was an active member of his church, First United Methodist Church of Snyder, performing many duties before and after his retirement. He was a member of the Snyder Lion Club, the Scurry County Tax Appraisal Board, Snyder Country Club and the Snyder Chapter of API. In 2008, James and Dorris moved to Fort Worth to be close to family. He was a great cook and many people in West Texas were treated to his famous Fish Fry’s at work, church, and family functions. He enjoyed playing golf, but his biggest passion was working in his woodshop, building anything made of wood. He was a talented craftsman who could fix or make anything. A true American Patriot, he flew the American Flag daily with pride.

He is survived by his wife, Dorris Northcott of Fort Worth, Texas; Two Sons, Jerry Lee and wife Jan of Abilene, and Steve and wife Sylvia of Andrews, Texas; a Daughter, Kathy and husband John Hanson of Fort Worth. He is also survived by 8 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren and Niece Diane Paschal of Monroe, Louisiana, Cousins, Dollene and husband Don Thompson of Round Rock, Texas, and Carl Wayne McDonald and wife Kay of Branson West, Missouri.

Family visitation will be on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 from 6 pm to 7 pm at Lunn Funeral Home in Olney.
