James H. Pace

Olney ~ James H. Pace, age 71, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2017, in Olney, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 8, 2017, at First Baptist Church in Olney with Chad Edgington, pastor, officiating, assisted by Scotte Clark.  Interment will follow in Restland Cemetery under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

James was born August 27, 1946, in Idalou, Texas to the late Milton James Pace and Lucille (Benton) Pace. He graduated in 1964 from Idalou High School and attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict, where he received the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star. He moved to Olney in 1970 from Idalou and was a member of First Baptist Church and the Downtown Men’s Bible Class. James retired from the USDA and was currently the owner and operator of Pace-O Cattle Company. He loved Olney and was the Past President of the Olney ISD School Board, Past President of the Olney Band Boosters, Past President of the Olney Rodeo Association and a member of the Southwest Texas Cattle Raisers Association.

James was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Buddy and Juanita Booher, and brother-in-law, Mike Heinrich.

James is survived by his wife, Debbie Pace of Olney, Texas; three sons: Hank Pace of Arlington, Texas, Chuck Pace and wife Jennifer of Burkburnett, Texas, and Garrett Pace of Olney, Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, Milton and Judy Pace of Idalou, Texas; one sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Charlie McQuhae of Idalou, Texas; and two granddaughters, Lily Pace and Chloe Pace.

Family visitation will be Thursday, September 7, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Lunn Funeral Home in Olney.
