Iva Jewel Carpenter

Church services for Iva Jewel Carpenter, 103, of Magnolia, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, at Central Baptist Church in Magnolia with A.J. McGuirt of Magnolia officiating. Burial will be held in Restland Cemetery in Olney, at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 21.
There will be a viewing from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, at Central Baptist Church in Magnolia before the service.
Iva died Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016 in Shenandoah. She was born Oct. 10, 1912 in Olney, to James Richard and Mary Francis (Ewing) Jackson. She married James Deboe Carpenter in Walters, Okla. on Feb. 28, 1937.
Iva was a farmer’s wife in the Lazbuddie, Texas community for many years before moving to Magnolia in 1997. She had been a member of the Lazubuddie United Methodist Church from 1940 until 1997, when she joined Central Baptist Church in Magnolia.
Iva was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. in 1989; her parents; two brothers; and three sisters.
Iva is survived by her son, James Henry Carpenter and his wife, Shirley of Houston; her daughter, Shirley Ann Howard of Magnolia; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
