Gwendolyn Fay “Stennett” “Tatum” Crosthwait, age 81, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2016, at Grace Care Center in Olney, Texas. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2016 in the chapel of Lunn Funeral Home in Olney, Texas with Chad Edgington, pastor of First Baptist Church in Olney, officiating. Interment will follow at Round Timber Cemetery in Baylor County, Texas Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Gwen was born on June 23, 1934 in Round Timber, Texas to the late Dura Lee “Jack” Stennett and Veda (Aytes) Stennett. She graduated from Olney High School in 1954 and was a lifelong resident of Olney. She married Joe Wilhelm “Dutch” Tatum in 1954. He preceded her in death in 1966. She later married Arlon Clayton “Papa” Crosthwait in 1969. He preceded her in death in 2006. Gwen loved playing all kinds of sports with her kids, especially tennis, baseball, volleyball and roller skating. She was a very caring and loving homemaker, mother, and grandmother to her children and grandchildren and all of their friends. Her home was always open.

Gwen was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, two brothers, Arthur Lee Stennett and James Dewey Stennett, and one sister Jackie Fern (Stennett) Morgan.

Gwen is survived by her children: Derel Tatum and wife Kendra, Danny Tatum and wife Terrye, Leatha Hirsch and husband Jim, Donna Tatum, Aurlie Strealy and husband Tommy, Kay Strealy and husband Jim, Tony Crosthwait and wife Jeanie; her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Naomi Elliott and husband Leon; one brother, Leo Dan “Buddy” Stennett and wife Vanice; sister-in-law, Glenna Stennett; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends who knew and loved her as “Granny Gwen”.
