Grover Parsons

Grover Parsons, age 89, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2025, at United Regional in Wichita Falls, Texas. Family visitation will be held Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Lunn Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 14, 2025, in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home, with Casey Blanton officiating. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery in Olney. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Grover Parsons of Olney, Texas, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was born on December 14, 1935, to the late Alfred and Mary (Ellison) Parsons. Grover married Kay Clainesmith on October 18, 1966, in Midland, Texas. They later moved to Olney in 1997 from Kayenta, Arizona. He had received several degrees, including a master’s degree in math, a bachelor of arts degree in computer programming, and a bachelor of arts degree in petroleum engineering. Grover had enjoyed a long career as a computer programmer and high school math teacher on the Navajo reservation in Arizona. More recently, he had served as a high school substitute teacher at Olney High School. He had been retired for the last five years. Grover could always be found maintaining and working in his yard.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Jack Parsons of Chickasaw, Oklahoma.

Grover is survived by his wife, Kay Parsons, of Olney, Texas; three daughters: Julie Thornton and husband Dean of Olney, Texas; Judie Sartor and husband Cory of Denison, Texas; and Jennie Handke and husband Glen of Duncan, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren and three great-granddaughters; and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, several nieces and nephews, one brother, and two sisters.
