Evelyn Charlene Stringham

Evelyn Charlene (Stringham) Taylor Ragland Young, 80, was born December 7, 1938 in Port Lavaca, Texas, to the late Leon and Mary Louise Stringham.

She passed away on October 24, 2019, at Grace Care Center in Olney, Texas.

Evelyn graduated from Brewer High School in White Settlement, Texas. She remained in White Settlement and married Clayton Taylor and they had four children. Evelyn worked as a manager of second-hand clothing stores and worked as a correctional officer at Allred Prison for more than 15 years before retiring.

Evelyn married Lanny Ragland and the family moved to Jacksonville, Florida where they had one child. In 1971, the family moved to Megargel, Texas and resided there for many years. The family lived in various towns in Texas and ended up in Olney, Texas in 2004. In her spare time, she enjoyed going to the casino and spending time with her many grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.

Survivors include her sister Mary Stringham (Clinton, MO), sister Deloris Stringham Snow (Olney, TX), sister Connie (Taylor) Creel and husband Billy (Apollo Beach, Fl.). She is also survived by her children: Deborah Taylor and Carl Dickens (Olney, TX), David Taylor and wife Dina (Wichita Falls, TX), Darla Dobbs and Robert Keller (Olney, TX), and Bobby Ragland and wife Kymmi (Lubbock, TX).

She was preceded in death by her son Donny Taylor and his sons Chris Taylor and Jeff Taylor and his daughter Heather Taylor; Also her brother Thomas Stringham and sister Wanda Alford.

Evelyn had numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association.
