Dorothy Evanson
Dorothy Louise Evanson (Ermel), a beloved mother, grandma, and great-grandma passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on December 28, 2025, and entered the loving arms of her Lord and Savior.
Born on September 1, 1934, in Fountain, Colorado, Dorothy dedicated her younger adult years working at Fountain Valley School as well as teaching piano lessons, sharing her kind heart and passion for playing the piano with many students. She later lived many years in Olney, Texas, working at Olney Enterprise with her friends. In her later career, she was a compassionate inhome CNA healthcare provider, touching countless lives with her kindness, humor and care.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her five brothers and one sister. She is survived by her three loving children: Mark Evanson, Melanie (married to Kenneth Williams), and Michele Evanson; her 10 grandchildren - Jay, Blake, Luke, Dezra, Bruce, Leah, Jessica, Lindsay, Tyler, and Kelly who knew her as Gram Cracker; and 19 great-grandchildren who knew her as Gigi.
Dorothy found simple joys in life’s everyday moments— a cup of coffee paired with a cookie, lively conversations about politics, fall colors, and beautiful birds. Above all, her faith in the Lord sustained her, and she now rests eternally in His grace.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to her devoted caregiver of many years, her daughter Melanie Williams, and the compassionate staff at Sunny Vista Living Center.
In keeping with Dorothy’s wishes, there will be no formal service. Instead, she requested that those who knew and loved her remember her by enjoying a cup of coffee and a cookie in her honor.
She was deeply loved and will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her gentle, humorous spirit.
