Donia Woods

Donia Woods, 76 of Olney, passed away Monday, February 14, 2022 in Wichita Falls.

Services was held on Friday, February 18, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with Joe Mac Petit officiating. Burial was in the Riverview Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.

Donia was born August 24, 1945 in Olney to Holmes and Sallie Souther Alexander. She was a 1963 graduate of Olney High School. Donia married Don Woods on December 22, 1962 at the Southside Baptist Church in Olney. She received her LVN license through Vernon Regional Junior College. Donia worked as an LVN for 13 years, while also going to Midwestern State University where she received her Bachelor’s of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse for 21 years at Methodist Hospital in Lubbock. She was preceded in death by her parents, Holmes and Sallie Alexander; 5 brothers, Calvin (Dago) Alexander, Billy (Jack) Alexander, Cletus Alexander, Glen Dee Alexander and Alvin Wayne Alexander.

You could sum up Donia’s life by saying it was all about others. It gave her great joy! If you were hungry, she fed you. If she was your nurse, she used every resource available to support your recovery. If she called you friend, you got the best example of what a friend should be. She saw the little needs of people that no one else knew about, fixed them if she could and stood beside them if she couldn’t. She loved hummingbirds and collecting anything related to that. She loved taking pictures of wildflowers, friends, and family. Any activity involving kids and grandkids was worthy of many clicks of that camera. She loved the Lord, life and celebrating others.

She is survived by her husband, Don Woods of Olney; 3 children, Andy and Teri Woods of Tabor City, N.C., Becky Kimmel and Mark Hallgren of Lubbock and Royce and Connie Woods of Seymour; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren with 2 more on the way.

Visitation was from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials to Beyond Faith Hospice.
