Don Carl Wainwright

Don Wainwright of Olney, Texas, passed away on April 29, 2024, at Olney Hamilton Hospital. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2024, in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home, with Harrell Braddock, Jr., pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Don was born in Olney, Texas on, April 26, 1937, to Carl and Willie Ida (Leberman) Wainwright. He was married on December 22, 1969, to Anna T. Cunningham in Las Vegas, Nevada. Don was a lifetime resident of Olney. He was the former president of the Olney Recreation Association and golfing was a passion of his. After his rounds of golf, he enjoyed playing Gin Rummy with his friends. He loved to fly planes and had many harrowing experiences while flying. Don worked as a construction foreman for Knight Oil Tools in Lafayette, Louisiana until his retirement in 2005. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

Don was preceded in death by his parents: Carl and Willie Ida (Leberman) Wainwright; his wife: Anna T. (Cunningham) Wainwright; three brothers: Richard Wainwright, Cotton Wainwright, and J.J. Wainwright; and four sisters: Billie Ann, Doris, Bette Biter, and Alsa Lee Wainwright.

Don is survived by his daughter and son-inlaw: Trina and Dr. Jeremy Johnson; three grandchildren: Caleb Johnson, Colby Johnson, and Calyn Johnson; his sister Carla Perry, and, numerous nieces and nephews.

Family visitation will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2024, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Lunn Funeral Home.
