Charlotte (Garner) McLaughlin, 80, of Olney, formerly of Petersburg passed away on October 6, 2018. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Petersburg with Jimmy Fullingim of Lubbock officiating. Interment will follow in the Petersburg Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. She was born January 24, 1938 in Childress, Texas to Archie and Aletha (Smith) Garner. She graduated from Plainview High School in 1956. She married Jimmy McLaughlin on December 14, 1957 in Plainview. She was a farmer’s wife and served as President in the early 80’s for the Women Involved in Farm Economics (WIFE). Charlotte was a member of the First Baptist Church in Petersburg and served as a Sunday school teacher and also as a youth director for several years. Charlotte also operated a dress shop for many years and owned Charlotte’s Dress Shop in Petersburg from 1980-1991. Charlotte also loved being involved in her class reunions and helping organizing their events. Charlotte was a talented seamstress and very good bridge player. She loved her family and supporting her children and grandchildren in all of their activities. She is survived by three children, Lezlie Thompson and husband Ryan of Petersburg, TX, Wes McLaughlin and wife Pam of Lubbock, TX; Valorie Mahler and husband Kelly of Olney, TX; three grandchildren, Trey Thompson and wife Robin of Shallowater, TX, Ty Thompson and wife Gayle of Divide, CO, Ky Mahler of Houston, TX; two great grandchildren, Kezlie and Landrie Thompson; and special friend, Bull Cupit of Lubbock, TX. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
