Carlyon Curnutte

Carlyon Curnutte, age 71, passed away Thursday, August 8, 2019, in Dallas, Texas. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 12, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Newcastle with Jessie Edwards, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery in Olney. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home.

Carlyon was born on March 15, 1948 in Saint Jo, Texas to J.A. and Frances “Pat” (Gatlin) Underwood. She had lived most of her life in Olney. She married Curtis Curnutte on August 11, 1967 in Olney. Carlyon was a devout member of the First Baptist Church in Newcastle where she loved her pastor and his wife. She enjoyed taking care of her dogs and quilting. But, most of all, she loved her family and her grandchildren.

Carlyon was preceded in death by her father, J.A. Underwood, and two brothers, James Elvin Underwood and Nelson Wayne Underwood.

Carlyon is survived by her mother, Pat Underwood; her husband, Curtis Curnutte; her daughter, Kittie Curnutte; her son, Wayne Curnutte and wife Faughnda; three grandchildren, Breanna Curnutte and husband Ian Bailey, Tyler Curnutte, Lauren Curnutte; four great-grandchildren, Avery Green, Rilynn Bailey, Willow Bailey, Carter Bailey; her sister and brother-in-law, Jimmie Wilson and husband Jimmy; and several nieces and nephews.

Family visitation will be on Sunday, August 11, 2019 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Lunn Funeral Home.
