Carl Leroy Anderson of Athens, Texas was born to the late Raymond and Alice (Parks) Anderson on April 12, 1939 in Seminole, Oklahoma. Carl died on February 8, 2018 at his home with his wife at his side. A Memorial Service was held for him on February 11, 2018 in Athens, Texas, with future burial planned in Olney, Texas. There will be a graveside service for his final interment on October 13, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. in Restland Cemetery assisted by Lunn Funeral Home. Pastor Robert Sanders of Alive Church in Vinita, Oklahoma will be officiating. Carl graduated from New Lima High School in New Lima, Oklahoma. He played basketball and baseball during his school years. He then moved to Archer City, Texas with his parents. He married Peggy Tucker of Olney on November 25, 1961. In August 1967, they moved to Washington State. He worked 35 years for Simpson Timber Company in Shelton, Washington, retiring in October 2002. Carl retired to Athens, Texas with his wife Peggy and son Joseph in October 2006. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Olney, Texas. He attended the Living for the Brand Cowboy Church in Athens, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, two of his four brothers, Charles Anderson and George Anderson, and his only sister, Louise Anderson Wolford. He is survived by his wife Peggy Anderson, along with his youngest son Joseph Anderson, both of Athens, Texas; his oldest son, Cameron Anderson, along with two granddaughters, Aliece Anderson and Natalie Anderson of Crosby, Texas; two brothers and their wives, Edward and Cora Anderson of Olney, Texas and Richard and Doris Anderson of Olympia, Washington; two sisters-in-law, Mozelle Sullivan of Wichita Falls, Texas and Geraldine Anderson of Shelton, Washington; and several nieces and nephews. Carl never met a stranger. He would stop and make time to speak/ visit with anyone. He was a loving and caring person. He was just a “Great Man” always with a smile. Carl will be missed, but never forgotten. Carl’s remembrance time will be shared with his late sister-in-law, Dorothy Swanzy. There will be a graveside service following Carl’s to honor her life. Dorothy died on October 4, 2017 in Newman, California. Due to illnesses in the family, her life was not able to be celebrated until now. See her obituary for details.
