Billy Ross Averett, age 86, died Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Hamilton Hospital in Olney, Texas. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2019 at First Baptist Church in Olney with Chad Edgington, pastor, officiating. Harrell Braddock, Jr., pastor of First United Methodist Church will be assisting. Billy was born April 6, 1932 in Young County to the late Ross Monroe Averett and Georgia (Tomlinson) Averett. He was a graduate of Graham High School and married Grace Edwards  after his graduation. He later married Judy Guttormson Moore on April 4, 1981 in Olney. His love of building and construction began at age fifteen when he helped his uncle. He was involved in residential and commercial construction and development and was proud to be known as a lumberman. He was owner of South Terrace Homes and Averett Lumber. Billy was a longtime member, Sunday School Teacher and Deacon at First Baptist Church in Olney. In 2018, he was awarded a Star of Olney Award by the Olney Chamber of Commerce. Billy was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters: Alma Rhea Cathey, Joyce Dierickx, Imogene Teakell; one grandson, Ross Richards; one daughter, Lisa Hughes; one son, Russell Moore; and a daughterin- law, Bonita Averett. Survivors include his wife, Judy Averett of Olney; one daughter, Piney Richards of Olney; son-in-law, Roy Richards of Olney; one son, Tim Averett of Olney; one brother, Arvel Averett of Grandbury; three grandchildren: Elicia Foster and husband John of Olney, Chelsea Moore of Olney and Corey Hughes of Olney; three g re at -g r andchi ld ren and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to: First Baptist Church, P.O.
