
Beulah “Boots” (Helvey) Davis
Boots Davis, 88, passed away February 9, 2025, at Hamilton Hospital in Olney, Texas. Family visitation will be held Friday from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm Saturday, February 15, 2025, in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home, with Scotte Clark, officiating. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery in Olney, Texas. Funeral services are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.
Beulah Mae Helvey was born on May 6, 1936 in Bryson, Texas, to Floyd Douglas and Carmen (Enlow) Helvey. As the youngest of seven, she was given the nickname Boots and it stayed with her the rest of her life. They were raised by their beloved mother who instilled in them the qualities every mother wants to see in her children.
Boots graduated from Graham High School in May of 1954. She married Bev D Davis of Newcastle, Texas in June of 1954. The Air Force took them to Greenville, South Carolina, and Anchorage, Alaska.
Their first son, Bev Donald “Donnie”, Jr., was born in 1955. Their second son, Richard Doyle, was born in 1957.
They moved to Olney, Texas, in 1960. Some of the places where Boots worked were Haggar Slacks, Joy’s Flower Shop, and Marguerette’s Cafeteria. She was a member of Hamilton Street Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bev, her son Donnie, her step-dad George Helma, her in-laws Doyle and Clara Davis, her siblings: Willard Helvey, James Helvey, Wilma Donahoe, Virginia Kelley, Marguerette Helvey, and Bobbye Wickham, her niece Becky Lary, her nephews Doug and Kenny Donahoe, and her sister-in-law Doylene Bailey.
Boots is survived by son Rick (Jill), her grandchildren Samantha Webb (Ronnie), MaKenzie Powell (Bo), Rick Davis, Jr., and Ross Wyatt (Remy); her great-grandchildren: Kylie Webb, Brooke Powell, MaCrae Isbell, Tucker Webb, McKinnon Isbell, Cole Powell, and Sage Powell with another great-grandchild expected in March of this year, and sisters-in-law Sue Brunett and Pat Helvey. She is also survived by numerous, nieces, nephews, and good friends especially her special friend James Jenkins.
Her family would like to thank the efforts and assistance of Doctors Johnson and Purdy, along with the great staff at Hamilton Hospital and Grace Care Center.
