Bennie Ray Dodd

Funeral services for Bennie Ray Dodd, age 72, of Early will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday at the Early Church of Christ. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.

Bennie passed from this life on Monday, October 21, 2019, in Brownwood.

Bennie Ray Dodd was born on October 22, 1946, in Olney to Roland Dodd and Oretha Morgan. He graduated from Olney High School in 1965. Bennie married Linda McCauley on June 24, 1967, in Olney.

Bennie retired from GTE after many years of employment and worked for Early ISD until his 2nd retirement.

Bennie was a longtime member of the Early Church of Christ, where he served as a Deacon and various other volunteer positions over the years. He helped build the addition and helped install and run the sound and recording system.

Bennie also served for a number of years in the Early Volunteer Fire Department and Planning and Zoning committee.

Bennie is survived by his son Cully Dodd and wife DeeAnna of Mckinney, a daughter Gretchen Campbell and husband Kenneth of Early; a sister Gloria Hotze; three grandchildren, Hunter Campbell and wife Nicollette, Hanner Campbell, and Tia Dodd; and one great-grandchild Wyatt Campbell.

Bennie was preceded in death by his parents, wife Linda, and infant son Cory Byron Dodd.
