Barbara Anderson McClatchy

Barbara Anderson McClatchy, 62, went home to be with the Lord early on Saturday, November 5, 2016 in Arlington, TX after a valiant battle with cancer. Her devotion to family and firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace. She leaves behind her life-long love and husband of 32 years, Scott McClatchy; her daughter Michelle, and her husband Seth Mueller; and her daughter Meredith, and her husband Ronald Tilton.

Barbara was born on November 20, 1953, in Fort Worth, TX to father Raymond E. Anderson and mother Rose Williams Anderson, who pre-deceased her. She grew up in a large, loving family as the youngest of five sisters —  Jean Richerson, Joan Posluszny, Christine McKown and Arlene Jones. Barbara attended Texas Christian University and earned a degree in kinesiology.

Barbara married Scott McClatchy on November 3, 1984 in Fort Worth, TX where they lived and raised their two daughters.

Barbara had a fondness for travel, finding her way to a long career at American Airlines. Barbara spent the height of her time at American in network and route planning, helping build the world’s largest airline’s network in Europe and Asia. After a successful 34-year career, Barbara retired from American Airlines in May of 2016.

Barbara had a full life. She was an amazing mom, a loving and devoted wife, wonderful sister, aunt, daughter and a caring friend. She was loved by everyone who met her because of her kind words, her thoughtful actions, her wealth of love, and her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. Even through the last few years of her life, her perseverance battling cancer was a testament to her character and a testimony to her friends and family. She was truly an extraordinary woman and worthy of honor and remembrance.
