Alene Lisle, age 101, died March 8, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2016, at the Hamilton Street Church of Christ in Olney, Texas with Scotte Clark, minister, officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Cemetery in Olney. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney, Texas.

Alene was born on September 8, 1914 in Baylor County, Texas to the late Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Busby. She and Pete Lisle were married on June 30, 1938 in the home of her parents. As a young girl, Alene lived with her family North of Megargel until she graduated from Megargel High School in 1931. She attended John Tarleton College in Stephenville, Texas. She began teaching in rural schools including Luke Wilson School on the Coleman Ranch in Archer County, Lone Camp School in Palo Pinto County and Anarene School in Archer County. Alene continued her education during the summer at Denton Teacher’s College. She also completed extension and correspondence courses from Texas Tech University.

Pete, Alene and daughter April settled in Olney, Texas in 1945. Alene became the bookkeeper for Pete Lisle Drilling Company and later for Pete Lisle Rotary Hose Sales and Repair. Alene was a member of the Church of Christ, a member of the Smithsonian Institute, and the Graham Chaparral Dinner Club. She was a co-contributor to the Wichita Christian School and a long-time supporter of the Mel Gabler Education Research Analysts Institute. She was an avid worker in helping raise money for Olney’s Jaws of Life.

Alene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Pete Lisle on March 28, 2004, her daughter, April Stowe, on January 20, 2011, her son, Rolan Lisle, on February 16, 2012, and her sister, Florence Gray, on February 28, 2009.

Survivors include her son, Josh Lisle and wife Nancy of Runaway Bay, Texas; two brothers: Wilson Busby of Shreveport, Louisiana and James Busby of Nashville, Tennessee; six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, three step-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Friday, March 11, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Lunn Funeral Home.
