Cubs Fall to the Alvord Bulldogs

The Olney High School Cubs hosted district rivals the Alvord Bulldogs last week, and though the Cubs fought hard, they were unable to get much going on either side of the ball, falling to the Bulldogs 59-0.

The Cubs continue to learn a new spread offense, which offers opportunities for big plays and a larger playbook to choose from. The Cubs have seen some success with the new system over the past two years, but rebuilding a football program can take three to five years.

So hang in there, Cubs fans! There is a light at the end of the tunnel as younger players coming up through the ranks learn the new system and gain experience.

The Cubs are now 1-5 on the season, with district play just getting underway. One bright spot this season was the Cubs’ exciting win over longtime rivals the Archer City Wildcats.

The Cubs will travel to Nocona next to take on the Indians at 7 p.m.

Every game counts now, Cub fans, so show up, get loud and be proud!
