OEDC BRIEFS
Board to address training
Mr. Parker said OEDC was behind on required state training and would send members links to complete the courses and obtain certificates for the corporation’s records.
The discussion included open meetings and training related to spending public money.
Members discussed completing the training together, although individual participation by computer was also an option. No training session was formally scheduled during the meeting.
Downtown upkeep draws concern Board member Kyle Hinson raised concerns about downtown sidewalks and weeds, including the area near the courthouse.
City Councilmember Colson Ballard, who attended the meeting, also identified problem areas.
Mr. Parker said county work crews had historically helped maintain the courthouse area. He had contacted the county about the work but had not yet seen a crew arrive.
No maintenance agreement or spending was approved.
Parker to discuss regional development Mr. Parker reported plans to address an Archer County meeting on housing, infrastructure and rural development related to data centers on Tuesday, Oct. 13.
He also planned to lead a roundtable at a regional municipal conference in Abilene on economic development, housing, infrastructure and data center readiness.
Mr. Parker said communities across the region were discussing the businesses and services that could support anticipated development.
